The Haiti School Building Project began in March of 2011 when the land was given to us by the government in order to build in accordance with the population and their needs. The very first hole was dug by myself (Serena Bufalino) and my project partners John Callaghan and David Gallium. Since then work only gets done to the school when I myself, or one of my partners, are personally on the grounds in Haiti overseeing the growth and progress. We are a volunteer organization with no paid employees, so we personally take responsibility for all donations revived and ensure that 100% of donators monies is being directly applied to the project.
We work with the funds that are given to us at any given time and work in a step by step manner to ensure that all needs are being met and in accordance to both building and community standards.
How we have made this dream come true is by partnering with various groups, organizations and corporations both locally and internationally. In particular, The Haiti School Building Project partnered up with the organization Third World Awareness (TWA) (charitable number 862550886RR0001 www.twawareness.org). In addition, I have had the privilege to work on the ground in Haiti with the director and founder of Third World Awareness, Mr. John Callaghan. In Haiti, John introduced me to his many contacts and networks that he has established over the years and therefore made this project very easy to coordinate.
TWA’s professionalism and dedication to the country and helping others has come a long way over the years and we are forever grateful for this opportunity John and his organization have given us to us here at the Haiti School Building Team. In coordinating with this organization, we are able to piggyback off what they have already established and continue to establish in Haiti. The group’s mission is simply to spread love and help as many people as possible worldwide.
